Tristan & Isolde Movie Overview

  • "Tristan & Isolde" begins with bits of the same myth that has inspired works ranging from sword & sorcery movies ("Lovespell") to operas by Wagner, and transforms them, rather surprisingly, into a lean and effective action romance.

  • Tristan and Isolde is one of the most enjoyable films I've seen this year. I saw it in a preview screening without knowing anything about the film or the myth.

  • In the medieval legend of Tristan and Isolde, young lovers become doomed against the forces of royal politics. English knight Tristan wins the hand of the daughter of the ...

  • Tristan and Isolde: Tristan and Isolde, principal characters of a famous medieval love-romance, based on a Celtic legend (itself based on an actual Pictish king).

  • Music and Dance; Cleveland Orchestra brews potent concoction with concert account of 'Tristan and Isolde' (review)

  • Tristan und Isolde. Christof Loy brings intense insight to Wagner’s story of illicit love, told through music of thrilling power.

  • Tristan und Isolde is an opera about longing, but the longing in Carnegie Hall was focused on tenor Jonas Kaufmann, after several cancellations of performances in New York, notably at the Metropolitan Opera.

  • It may seem strange to think that a single chord could be the highlight of an entire opera. But the first chord played in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde – on the first beat of the second full bar in the Act I prelude – has been called not only a highlight, but the most significant chord in ...

  • Tristan und Isolde is the most important work of one of opera’s greatest masters: Richard Wagner. We select some of the finest interpretations by the great conductors...

  • The name of "the Tristan chord" means of course no more than that chord which is used extensively and in a special way in the opera 'Tristan und Isolde'.
