  • "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" is a great prequel to the classic "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". The story gives a good explanation to the origins of Leatherface, "the ugliest thing ever seen", and the movie is extremely violent and gore, with touches of surrealism.

  • R. Lee Ermey is quite good as the overbearing Uncle Charlie. Curvy, sexy comic actress Diora Baird is quite good in the film. Jordana Brewster(The Fast and the Furious) is decent as the film's female lead. Jonathan Liebesman(Darkness Falls) directs. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is a decent horror film.

  • The Beginning could be the most disgusting movie I have ever seen. Its abuse of blood and violence was unnecessary. It's chilling premise could have been as effective as the original, but it was lost. The beauty of the original Texas is its almost total lack of blood and gore. The Beginning could be the most disgusting movie I have ever seen.

  • Critic Reviews for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning All Critics (84) | Top Critics (19) | Fresh (10) | Rotten (74) | DVD (13) Oppressive, mean-spirited and sadistic, The Beginning is an unsavoury exercise in cruelty and pain that one hopes will also be the end.

  • Bloody gore fest retreads old gruesome ground. Read Common Sense Media's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning review, age rating, and parents guide.

  • Now here’s a grisly little item. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is as violent and gruesome and blood-soaked as the title promises -- a real Grand Guignol of a movie.
