  • For Pacino, "Sea of Love" is a reminder of the strong presence he established in street roles in the 1970s, before he drifted away into an unfocused stardom in too many softer roles. This time he seems sharp, edgy, complicated and authentic.

  • Critic Reviews for Sea of Love All Critics (27) | Top Critics (5) | Fresh (21) | Rotten (6) | DVD (1) Efficient enough as a thriller, but what makes this mandatory viewing is the return of Pacino.

  • "Sea of Love" is a great song, and there are 3 or 4 other notable songs, but the rest is a very mixed bag. If you're willing to take a chance beyond "Sea of Love", this is the most comprehensive Phil Phillips release to date and covers all of his Khoury and Mercury recordings (1959-1961).

  • Sea of Love is a suspenseful film noir boasting a superlative performance by Al Pacino as a burned-out Gotham cop. Handsome production benefits from a witty screenplay limning the bittersweet tale of a 20-year veteran NYC cop assigned to a case tracking down the serial killer of men who've made dates through the personal columns.

  • Sea of Love, all names and sounds of Sea of Love characters, and any other Sea of Love related items are registered trademarks and/or copyrights of Universal Studio Home Entertainment or their respective trademark and/or copyright holders.

  • Sea of Love is not a complete success, but it's certainly one of the best of its type. Were it not for a weak murder motive that's not fully explored, resulting in something of an unsatisfying finale, we would probably be talking about Sea of Love being the template movie for the erotic thriller.

  • Marred by an implausible ending, 'Sea of Love' is still one Pacino's best vehicles.
