Alice in Wonderland Movie Overview

Alice, an unpretentious and individual 19-year-old, is betrothed to a dunce of an English nobleman. At her engagement party, she escapes the crowd to consider whether to go through with the marriage and falls down a hole in the garden after spotting an unusual rabbit. Arriving in a strange and surreal place called 'Underland,' she finds herself in a world that resembles the nightmares she had as a child, filled with talking animals, villainous queens and knights, and frumious bandersnatches. Alice realizes that she is there for a reason – to conquer the horrific Jabberwocky and restore the rightful queen to her throne.

  • Audience Reviews for Alice in Wonderland Not Burton's best. The visuals completely overwhelm the story and characters to the point that it is rather distracting.

  • Alice in Wonderland. The ringleader is the Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp, that rare actor who can treat the most bizarre characters with perfect gravity. Whoever he plays (Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Ichabod Crane), he is that character through and through.

  • Rabbit for tea ... Alice in Wonderland. In Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the heroine notices that there are only three guests at the Mad Hatter's famous tea party (with herself the fourth) but the table has many more pristine, unnecessary place-settings.

  • User Reviews. Alice in Wonderland is a case in point. It's a movie where CGI effects rule the day. But the trouble is that the true weirdness that is at the heart of this story is not captured at all with all the computer-generated imagery on-screen. Sure it's very efficient and well-designed but like CGI in general,...

  • This review will turn up, as others I've read for any book with the same title, or a variation...Alice's Adventure in Wonderland or "Adventures" , Alice in Wonderland, The Complete Adventures of Alice in Wonderland!!!!!

  • Audience Reviews for Alice in Wonderland. This is a great film that might make you raise an eyebrow or two, however if you love Disney films, then this is yet another one worth checking out. Alice in Wonderland sure is an eccentric, surreal cinematic experience, but it's also one that you'll never forget.

  • Alice in Wonderland is a new movie from Tim Burton based on a classic work of literary fantasy, starring Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp, not to be confused with most of Burton's other films.

  • Review. Yet another bizarre film from the mind of Burton, Alice in Wonderland is a pretty good film with its furthering of the original plotline seen in the original novels. Rather than Alice falling down the rabbit hole and discovering Wonderland, or Underland as it’s actually called, for the first time, she’s returning to a place...

  • Review of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The book is brilliant for children, but with enough hilarity and joy for life in it to please adults too, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a lovely book with which to take a brief respite from our overly rational and sometimes dreary world.

  • 60out’s Alice in Wonderland, on the other hand, could be a believable sequel to the timeless Lewis Carroll stories themselves. And in truly immersive fashion, it casts us as active characters in the tale to see to it that justice is, finally, carried out in the warped world of Wonderland.
