  • Audience Reviews for Species: The Awakening. This film has all the ingredients to be straight to DVD schlock. This film features horrible effects, even more so than the third film. The Species franchise took a tumble after the third film, but with this film, the series attains a new low. As a whole, this is a shameful end to end the series,...

  • User Reviews. Species 3 paid little more than lip service to the desires of the target audience and the same is true here. Deviating from the plot line established by the first three films, which featured Natasha Henstridge, The Awakening is a standalone feature that references and reimagines the ideas of the first film.

  • Species: The Awakening. And we all know that the Species design – created by H.R. Giger – is a giant stack of sexual imagery itself, so it’s not that far off to recognize that the penile tongue stabbing through the victims’ bodies is some sexual politics that you could write a whole review about. Hey….

  • “Species the Awakening” is a fair B-movie. It won’t hurt you to watch it but there aren’t many scenes that are memorable. Actually, it’s pretty much fading from memory now.

  • Species: The Awakening is the last (as of August 2017) in a series that was hardly stellar to begin with! You can read our reviews of the first movie here , the second one here & the third one here .

  • Audio Review. 3.5 Stars out of 5. Both 'Species III' and 'Species: The Awakening' were given pretty decent DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio upgrades. Both audio tracks feature strong dialogue presence that kept to the front/center channels leaving the sides open for sound effects and music.

  • The bottom line with Species: The Awakening is it isn’t the best movie of the series, not even close. It makes part III look like a five-star movie and even it isn’t much better than just watchable.
