  • Kiki's Delivery Service is set in a large European metropolis (an amalgam of Stockholm and other cities) in a time period suggesting the 1950s. The attention to detail, particularly in the scenes of Kiki flying over the city streets, rivals that of many a bigger-budgeted Disney feature.

  • Critic Consensus: Kiki's Delivery Service is a heartwarming, gorgeously-rendered tale of a young witch discovering her place in the world.

  • That said, Kiki's Delivery Service is a very nice feel-good piece of animation if the short duration of the movie is not an issue for you, because for me it still felt like I was at some introduction chapter to a larger series as far as character development goes.

  • Kiki is a young witch – a profession that carries no sinister associations. Having reached the age of 13, tradition dictates that she must fly the nest on a sort of witchy gap year.

  • Kiki’s Delivery Service is a sweet, charming film and one of the first Miyazaki films I’ve seen (viewed on the Disney Channel years ago). The DVD version I own (distributed by Disney) has problems.

  • An utterly delightful Christmas treat for us this year was seeing this stage adaptation of Kiki’s Delivery Service at the Southwark Playhouse in London.. The 1989 animated Studio Ghibli movie has enchanted children and adults.

  • Though Hayao Miyazaki never intended to direct Kiki’s Delivery Service, the film contains his directorial signatures throughout, despite the story being developed from a source other than his own.Feminism and spirituality both play crucial, orbiting roles in the film, as the plot seems to revolve around rather than attack a particular objective.

  • Kiki is at that difficult age where she teeters constantly brazen overconfidence and frustrating self-doubt. It's an age that many parents fear, but it's handled gracefully in Kiki's Delivery Service.
