  • Critic Reviews for The Romantics All Critics (35) | Top Critics (17) | Fresh (5) | Rotten (30) | DVD (1) ... a very pretty movie that has no idea how silly it is.

  • Not too Romantic. This is the first movie We have watched in a long time that was poorly done and boring to watch. Usually I have better things to say about a movie, but not this one.

  • THE ROMANTICS is a short novel that is far from shallow. In fact, most of the action takes place far beneath the surface. The story concerns an Indian student who goes to do graduate study in Benares.

  • This was The Romantics' original lineup of singer/guitarist Wally Palmar, singer/drummer Jimmy Marinos, guitarist Mike Skill, and bassist Richie Cole. (Skill would exit after the second album.) This was an album that reveled in the period's quick and dirty recording methods, as the album took a mere three weeks.

  • the romantics fares better as an in-flight entertainment or an hour long season finale to dawson's creek rather than the indie flick it tries hard to portray itself as.

  • At its best, the Romantics' self-titled debut album sounds like the greatest album Shel Talmy never produced. The Detroit band's British Invasion-style power pop may not have been an especially original creation, but it was good enough that no one with a taste for high-voltage hooks would ever dream of complaining, and as a meeting of mid-'60s style and late-'70s volume and passion, it's all but flawless.

  • "The Romantics" is a film about reunion and this there have produced solid movies and my favorites are "Peter's Friends" and "St. Elmo's Fire". Unfortunately "The Romantics" is dull, boring, characters with no chemistry and poorly developed in an awful screenplay and story.

  • Indie wedding drama is too mature for young teens. Read Common Sense Media's The Romantics review, age rating, and parents guide.

  • The Romantics can be charming, and Holmes tackles her meatiest role since the superb "Pieces of April." But the script fails to establish the likability of any of the main characters, which dulls the sense of urgency during the dramatic moments.

  • The Romantics is billed as "a captivating film about love, friendship and loyalty". It's really pettiness, betrayal and cowardice disguised as a love triangle. An early scene of a raging forest ...
