  • ‘Creed II’ review More than just a rematch, 'Creed II' is an emotional knockout By Rick Marshall @rickmarshall — Posted on November 21, 2018 6:36AM PST 11.21.18 - 6:36AM PST

  • Creed II, however, shoots all the fights very conventionally, holding a fairly uniform three-quarters distance from the actors, with Caple Jr.'s only trick seeming to be slow-motion, which he grossly over-uses. This has the effect of making the fights seem repetitive.

  • “Creed II” hews so closely to “Rocky IV” that there’s a crazy (though admittedly awesome) training montage set in the middle of nowhere and the final bout takes place in Moscow. “Creed II” even takes “Rocky IV”’s vision of Russia, which is a missed opportunity.

  • As Rocky II was to Rocky, so is Creed II to its powerhouse progenitor — that is, a pale shadow of its daddy. Slack and unexciting compared to Ryan Coogler's blisteringly good 2015 reconception ...

  • Creed II is okay -- the kind of movie you could easily watch on cable without feeling as if you had totally wasted your time -- but it is by no means a knockout. Full Review.
