The Great Escape Movie Overview

The Nazis, exasperated at the number of escapes from their prison camps by a relatively small number of Allied prisoners, relocates them to a high-security 'escape-proof' camp to sit out the remainder of the war. Undaunted, the prisoners plan one of the most ambitious escape attempts of World War II. Based on a true story.

  • Based on the book by Paul Brickhill, The Great Escape is the true story of Allied prisoners plotting to break out of Nazi detention camp. Bartlett (Richard Attenborough) is the British officer who ...

  • The Great Escape is THE prison escape movie. The film is rich with characters and the direction by John Sturges is great. Steve McQueen is the man and the rest of the cast are terrific.

  • The Great Escape Sturges's nail biting escape from the war, is a symphony that soars among all the best outcome that the genre has given us. Sturges means business in here, from the first frame till the curtain drops. He doesn't have any time to go waste by, he clearly ahead of its time..

  • Although all three were made into movies, THE GREAT ESCAPE is by far the most well known, basically due to the fact that it received the "full Hollywwod treatment" (for better or for worse), in the film of the same name released in 1963. And also, of course, because of the sheer atrocity committed by the Nazis against the fugitives.

  • The Great Escape looks fairly solid on both the PS2 and Xbox. The plot of The Great Escape, the game, is closely tied to and actually expands upon the plot of The Great Escape , the movie.

  • Unfortunately, The Great Escape does not. Then there comes the AI in the game. With a game structure and design like the one in The Great Escape , a good AI system should be implemented.

  • Based on a true story, The Great Escape is set during the tail end of World War II, when a variety of officers from different countries were sent to Stalag Luft III, a prison camp designed to ...
