  • America loves Dewey Cox! But behind the music is the up-and-down-and-up-again story of a musician whose songs would change a nation.

  • By treating Dewey Cox as a real figure and its story as historical fiction, Walk Hard evokes Forrest Gump almost as often as it does Walk the Line.

  • As is present from the title and the cover this is an overall spoof of ‘Walk the Line’ the Johnny Cash story. The film follows Dewey Cox’s life starting with his pre-teen 50’s pop stage through his adult country, Bob Dylan phase, disco, 60’s free love, and all the genres in between.

  • John C. Reilly was appearing in Chicago onstage the other night as Dewey Cox, and the act may be something to fall back on if he ever gives up the daytime job. Apart from anything else demonstrated by "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story," the movie shows that he can do plausible versions of Johnny Cash, Elvis, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and on and on. He's like a kid who locked himself in his room singing along with his record collection and finally made it pay off.

  • Walk Hard is a mocumentary about an Elvis Presley type persona, whose music spanned an evolved over a 50 year career. As styles changed, so did Dewey Cox, his outfits, personality, and his music, it was all very clever. I especially liked when he ran into the Beatles at a monastery in India.

  • In this satiric musical biography (hello Walk the Line) Dewey Cox does all sorts of things that are bad, wrong, and just plain stupid, but he comes through and returns to his senses. Regardless, Dewey's story, in its entirety, is probably not one you'd want your kid reenacting. Especially the part with the monkey.

  • Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story takes a joke at the big Oscar winning biographies like Walk the Line and Ray. Some of the humor is a little out there, but works like in the days of Airplane! The story is a lot of fun to watch though. Dewey Cox is an inspiring musician with a soulful voice and the history of the blues.

  • “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story” is rated R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian). Sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll. WALK HARD. The Dewey Cox Story. Opens on Friday nationwide.
