  • The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

  • "World War Z" plays as if somebody watched the similar "28 Days Later" and thought, "That was a good movie, but it would be even better if it cost $200 million, there were millions of zombies, and the hero were perfect and played by Brad Pitt."

  • Brad Pitt is tasked with saving humanity in a ragged zombie flick with A-list bells on, writes Mark Kermode

  • World War Z is based on the 2006 novel by Max Brooks. The novel garnered some quite positive reviews, praised for its international and political scope.

  • World War Z movie reviews & Metacritic score: A United Nations employee traverses the world to stop a Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments...

  • But World War Z, inspired by if not really based on the popular book by Max Brooks, isn't just a zombie movie. And this is where that line about the president comes in: The film, which Pitt also produced, is designed to be less a horror movie than it is a globe-spanning, international thriller, albeit one with zombies in it.

  • I never read the novel, World War Z, by Max Brooks. Brad Pitt, however, must be a zombie fan because he bought the movie rights in 2007, which was way before The Walking Dead appeared on AMC television. It took Pitt five years to make the film at a cost of $190 million dollars. The movie has internationally grossed over $540 million. It broke even.
