Een jonge neurochirurg erft het kasteel van zijn grootvader, de beroemde Dr. Victor von Frankenstein. In het kasteel treft hij de gebochelde Igor, de mooie assistente Inga en de oude huishoudster Frau Blucher aan. • Audience Reviews for Young Frankenstein The art of the spoof has been lost in recent years, or at least a fundamental understanding of what makes the greatest spoofs work at the most basic level.

  • It is, and Mel Brooks is home with "Young Frankenstein," his most disciplined and visually inventive film (it also happens to be very funny). Frederick is a professor in a New York medical school, trying to live down the family name and giving hilarious demonstrations of the difference between voluntary and involuntary reflexes.

  • Perhaps "Young Frankenstein" is not definitive Mel Brooks, although he directed it. Gene Wilder, who not only stars but co-wrote it with Mel, was the inspiration to make this movie. And it's his influence, I think, that brings the best out in Mel.

  • Young Frankenstein is a great comedy, a movie that understands what it is doing most of the time and, although childish at times, I think fans of the original Frankenstein films and horror classics in general will enjoy this one.

  • I think Young Frankenstein is a very funny and unique comedy, and if I may choose between the two Mel Brooks films that have been released that year, Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles, I would choose Young Frankenstein.

  • Parents need to know that Young Frankenstein is a 1974 Mel Brooks movie that parodies the timeless monster story. Like all of Mel Brooks' movies, there is plenty of sexual innuendo here -- references to "a roll in the hay," "knockers," and the use of a German word that clearly means "penis."

  • The film of “Young Frankenstein,” which Pauline Kael called Mr. Brooks’s “most sustained piece of moviemaking,” was a different kettle of celluloid, a genre pastiche of Depression-era ...

  • West End Review: ‘Young Frankenstein,’ The Musical Mel Brooks brings his classic caper back to life, but the vaudeville musical’s stitches are all too visible. By Matt Trueman.
